An Air Quality Action Day for Thursday, September 2nd The New York State Department of Transportation has declared that tomorrow (Thursday, September 2, 2010) will be an Air Quality Action Day in the downstate metro area due to forecasted high levels of ground-level ozone. While tomorrow will still be a day when people can go about most of their normal activities, such as going to work, driving may be one of the most polluting activities that people do tomorrow, and we encourage everyone to leave their cars at home if possible.

GLUCK SISTERS BIRTHDAY BLOOD DRIVE Melville, NY Monday August 30, 2010 The Gluck Sisters: Muriel, Jude and Doreen, are hosting their first ‘Birthday Blood Drive’ at the Long Island Blood Services Melville Donor Center located at 905 Walt Whitman Road (aka Route 110), Melville NY. On average approximately 2000 units of blood are needed daily in the area serviced by New York Blood Center. Sadly, because the number of donations does not meet the need, 20% of the products {red blood cells, plasma and platelets} needed comes from other regions of the U.S.
